What's Coming Up in WORSHIP?

Rabbi Jesus: “How Family Stories and Traditions Shape the People We Become

Jesus of Nazareth was born into a Jewish household, circumcised on the eighth day in accordance with Jewish scripture and tradition, and was raised by Yosef and Miryam to live his life as a faithful Jew. He ate kosher food, kept the Sabbath, and celebrated the Holy Days and Feasts of the Jewish people. He studied, interpreted, loved, obeyed, and ultimately fulfilled the Hebrew Scriptures. He discipled his followers and challenged his opponents using classic rabbinical teaching techniques. The Messianic miracles he performed were powerful and compelling evidence that he was the One for whom his people had been waiting. Scripture describes Jesus using a number of titles that were cherished by the Jewish people: rabbi, prophet, Messiah, and Lord. It is simply not possible to understand Jesus apart from the Jewish tradition that shaped his life. Join us this week as Pastor Jeff launches a new series called Rabbi Jesus: How Godly Traditions Can Bless Our Lives and Make the World a Better Place. More good news from StoneBridge Community Church.

How Has the Bible Touched Your Life?

This summer our pastors will be presenting a message series on The Texts That Have Touched Our Lives. The series will include 4-5 minute videos featuring members of our church family talking about how their lives have been impacted by a verse or passage of scripture. If you have a verse or passage that has touched your life, please let us know so we can consider using it in the series. Click here to share your Bible text and story.

Important Update

Last week Pastor Jeff mailed out a letter to the congregation that is a matter of urgency and great importance to our church family. Please be on the lookout and take the time to read this letter in its entirety. If you have misplaced your copy, you can read it here.

Starting the weekend of February 17/18 you’re invited to join us for a six-week Lenten series and Growth Group study on “Rabbi Jesus” in which we’ll explore the ways in which a deeper appreciation of Jesus’ Jewish background sheds new light on our understanding of his words, deeds, and significance.

Make sure to join one of our Spring Growth Groups as we delve into this exciting series. Along with Pastor Jeff’s message notes and YouVersion discussion materials, we will dig deeper into the life of Jesus. After reviewing the Growth Group brochure found in your bulletin this weekend at church, you will be able to sign up for a group at The Hub or by contacting Barbara Waite at 805-915-7320 (or send an email).

Do you know someone experiencing a crisis, facing a challenge, or going through a tough time? Maybe you, or someone you know, is grieving the death of a loved one, is recently separated or in the process of a divorce, has become homebound, unemployed, or needs to work through the implications of a troubling medical diagnosis. God never intended for us to go through these challenges alone. That’s why God put us in a church family—and why we have Stephen Ministry. Click here to find out more about the ministry.
