This Week in WORSHIP
Selfies of the Savior: "I Am the True Vine
Last week, tens of thousands of residents of Ventura County found themselves without cable, internet, and landline telephone service when fiber-optic cables operated by Spectrum were damaged by the Woolsey and Hill Fires. Communications technology only works when we're connected. Something similar holds true for followers of Jesus. If we lose our connection with Christ, we may be left with the outward form of faith, but we've lost its vital source and center. Jesus used an agricultural image to make the point: "I am the Vine; you are the branches," he told his disciples. "If you remain in me, and I in you, you will bear much fruit. Apart from me, you can do nothing." (John 15.5) Why is it important to stay connected with God through Christ and his church? What are some of the ways we can stay better connected? What are the signs that we're staying connected, and what dangers await us when we aren't? Join us this week as Pastor Jeff concludes our fall teaching series on Selfies of the Savior with a thought-provoking, positive, practical message “I Am the True Vine” based on John 15.1-8. Every year, churches, business, and schools around the community host toy box collection drives for their local Community Christmas Shoppes. Items collected include new and unwrapped toys, games, sporting goods, arts and craft supplies, clothing and electronics. We serve children of all ages, so a variety of gifts are needed! Toy Box Collection Drive is happening the whole month of November. Stop by the ministry table after service this weekend to get more information and pick-up a toy box to take back to your place of business or school.
