This Week in WORSHIP
The Texts That Have Touched Us: "The Plans I Have For You"
Have you ever found yourself in a place you didn't plan to be, a situation you never would have imagined you'd find yourself in? A divorce, medical crisis, death of a loved one, or traumatic experience of any kind can make us feel as if our lives were upended. When the Babylonians overran and torched Jerusalem and its Temple, then sent her citizens into exile, it was a disorienting, distressing time for the people of God. But the Lord had a message for the exiles that fueled their hopes and helped them survive and thrive in their captivity. That message has given hope to countless generations since. Join us this week as StoneBridge member Carrie Fields shares her story and Pastor Jeff unpacks the background and meaning of Jeremiah 29.4-13 in a positive, practical message on “The Plans I Have For You.” This week only at StoneBridge Community Church.

American Girl Doll Collection
What to do with all those neglected American Girl Dolls? James Storehouse is collecting new or gently used American Girl Dolls and accessories for their Dream Day event coming up in November. What a wonderful way to give them a second life (Awww... Remember the movie Toy Story?). If you have any to donate, please drop them off at StoneBridge by or before Thursday, October 11th and we'll get them to James Storehouse!

In a letter addressed to the StoneBridge community on August 22nd, Pastor Jeff announced his retirement – effective December 31, 2018.
On the weekend of August 25th & 26th, Pastor Jeff gave a message titled,
“Now to Him Who is Able”, in which he outlined the process for hiring an interim pastor and a
permanent, lead pastor within our denomination. If you missed that message,
view it here.
An initial step in the process is for the StoneBridge Board of Elders to create an Interim Pastor Nominating Committee, (IPNC). At a Special Called Session meeting, held on Tuesday, September 11th, the IPNC was formed. The members of the IPNC are Ashely Chelonis, Steve Koep, Jason Leedy, Jeff Rohrer, and Andy Thompson.
Two days later, on Thursday, September 13th, the newly formed IPNC met with the Santa Barbara Presbytery’s Committee on Ministry, (C.O.M.) who partners with StoneBridge by shepherding the process, vetting and suggesting possible interim pastor candidates.
The StoneBridge Board of Elders and the IPNC want to be transparent and as timely as possible about the process and desire to keep our community well informed. As our community of faith moves forward through this season, any questions for the IPNC can be emailed to the church office.
As I write this I am overwhelmed by God's faithfulness, and the amazing number of friends that have partnered with us in Haiti. The ministry continues to grow in both breadth and depth. Click here to continue reading.
