Prepare the Way #3: "Three Lasting Gifts"

In Matthew 3 John the Baptist announces the coming of one who would "clear the threshing floor, gathering his wheat into the barn, and burning up the chaff in unquenchable fire." An obvious image of judgment, it is also a word of grace, reminding us that in the end, when all is said and done, all that lasts into eternity is that which honors God. As a chapter of our congregation's story draws to a close with Pastor Jeff's retirement, what has really mattered most, and what by God's grace, will last, remain, and abide? Join us this week as Pastor Jeff continues our Advent teaching series Prepare the Way of the Lord with a practical and encouraging message called “Three Lasting Gifts” based on 1 Corinthians 13.11-13. More good news from StoneBridge Community Church.

The Heart of Christmas Offering

One way our church family celebrates this holy season is through our special Heart of Christmas offering. At this time of year most of us think a bit more about the needs of others, especially those who are less fortunate. The Heart of Christmas offering is divided between five important ministries that impact lives all year long— ACTION, IMPACT, Front Porch Ministries, New Church Development, and The Christmas Joy Offering. You’ll find a special Heart of Christmas offering envelope in your program this weekend.

In order for StoneBridge to call an interim pastor, an Interim Pastor Nominating Committee (INPC) is created upon the current pastor’s retirement announcement. The IPNC is created by, and is under the authority of, the Session. The IPNC considers candidates that have been pre-vetted by The Presbytery of Santa Barbara as well as candidates from outside the presbytery. Upon identifying the best candidate, the IPNC will present the candidate to Session and the presbytery. Upon their approval, the interim pastor will be called and begin their ministry at StoneBridge.

The members of StoneBridge's IPNC are Elder Andy Thompson (Chair), Elder Ashley Chelonis, Elder Jason Leedy, Elder Jeff Rohrer, Pastor Cynthia Purvis (ex officio), and Pastor Dale Ridenour (Presbytery Representative).

At this time, the IPNC have considered several well qualified candidates and are moving forward with interviews.
